William Yancy, MD, has received an award from the PDC Outcomes Research Team (PORT) for his project "An Evaluation of Duke Weight Management Programs to Inform Development of a Collaborative Center."

Over a year ago, in August 2019, Katherine Henderson began her chaplain internship at the Duke Outpatient Clinic (DOC) to help the patients cope with the challenges they were facing. This was a new idea that started with the vision of DOC Medical Director, Lynn Bowlby, MD.  "My role, as I see it, is to hear the full story of [the patient's] despair," says Henderson. "I let them get it all the way out, and then explore their sources of strength to help them get through it."

William Yancy, MD, has received an award for his project “An Evaluation of Duke Weight Management Programs to Inform Development of a Collaborative Center,” through the PDC Outcomes Research Team (PORT). The PORT initiative seeks to provide Duke clinicians with reporting tools to enhance their productivity in data collection and analysis. Dr. Yancy is an associate professor of medicine (General Internal Medicine) and program director for Duke Diet and Fitness Center.  

The Division of General Internal Medicine wants to be first to announce and congratulate Dr. Gene Oddone on a standout career and to extend our best wishes for his retirement at the end of this month. What a Career! Many across the medical center acknowledge the privilege of working with Dr. Oddone. It is our honor to help celebrate. His accomplishments are formidable:

Celebrate! Kudos to the team, especially this set of Duke GIM authors. This week, according to Google Scholar, their paper about a structured PubMed search strategy has exceeded 1000 citations, an achievement by very very few publications!
