The Duke Internal Medicine Residency Program highlighted and celebrated resident research Tuesday night at the annual Resident Research Night, where more than 40 posters displayed resident research.

Save the date 4/29/14: Thrombosis and hemostasis disorders guest lecture
The Thrombosis and Hemostasis Disorders Consortium will host a guest lecture Tues., April 29, from 8-9 a.m. in Duke North, Room 2003.
Jane E. Freedman, MD, professor of medicine and director of Translational REsearch at UMass Memorial Heart & Vascular Center, will present "Circulating Transcripts and Athero-thrombotic Disease."
Dr. Freedman will also attend a small group discussion from 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. in MSRB II, Room 3090. Lunch will be provided and space is limited.
Grand Rounds 2/7/14: Malaria pathophysiology
Medicine Grand Rounds on Fri., Feb. 7 at 8 a.m. in Duke Hospital room 2002 will feature J. Brice Weinberg, MD, professor of medicine (Hematology) and immunology, with a case presentation by Benjamin D. Mouser, MD, resident in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.

Telen presents landmark new sickle cell disease research
At the 55th American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting and Exposition in New Orleans this month, Marilyn Telen, MD, professor of medicine, presented new research that uncovers several important insights into the pathophysiology of sickle cell disease and thalassemia that may soon translate into the development of better, more targeted treatments for hundreds of thousands of patients worldwide.

The Thrombosis and Hemostasis Disorders Consortium will host a research conference from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Weds., Nov. 20, in Duke North Room 2003.

Save the date 11/8-11/9: Conference on improving care for sickle cell disease
The Duke University Comprehensive Sickle Cell Program is hosting a 2-day joint conference with experts from Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill. “Engaging Providers and Families to Improve Care for Individuals with Sickle Cell” will be held from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Fri., Nov. 8, and from 8:30 a.m.-3:45 p.m. Sat., Nov. 9 in the Duke University School of Nursing, Auditorium 1014.
Registration is required; the cost for providers is $15.
Grand Rounds 10/4/13: Therapeutic Apheresis

Pete Lollar, MD, professor of pediatrics at Emory University and Director of Hemostasis Research, will give a lecture on Tue., July 23 from 9-10 a.m. in Duke North, Room 2003.
Dr. Lollar will present "The Immune Response to Factor VIII - Including a Trip to the Biotechnology Sector."
Lollar will also attend a small group discussion from 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. in MSRB II, Room 3090. Lunch will be provided and space is limited.
4/2/13: Thrombosis and Hemostasis Disorders Consortium lecture
The Thrombosis and Hemostasis Disorders Consortium will host Evan Sadler, MD, PhD, professor of medicine (Hematology) and Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics at Washington University in St. Louis, on Tuesday, April 2 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in Duke North, Room 2003.
Dr. Sadler will discuss von Willebrand Factor, ADAMTS13 and Thrombotic Microangiopathy.
