Duke University Hospital 

The major site of internal medicine training is Duke University Hospital. Duke offers every level of health service, from prevention and primary care to the most sophisticated specialty services, at locations throughout North Carolina and beyond.

As the Southeast’s preeminent health care provider and one of the nation’s best, Duke attracts a total of more than 60,000 inpatient stays and 4 million outpatient visits annually. Because of Duke's leadership in biomedical research, Duke caregivers can offer patients immediate access to new therapies -- bringing the benefits of the latest research directly to the bedside.

Duke Children’s Hospital and Health Center

The major site of pediatric training is Duke Children's Hospital & Health Center located within the Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. Duke Children's Hospital serves as both a primary care facility and a referral center for patients from North Carolina and throughout the Southeast. 

Veterans Affairs Medical Center 

The Durham Veteran Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) is located directly across the street from Duke University Hospital. All faculty at the Durham VAMC are also faculty at Duke, and many faculty members have privileges at both hospitals. The hospital campus also includes the 120-bed Extended Care and Rehabilitation Center (ECRC), which is one of the sites for training in geriatrics.

Duke Regional Hospital  

Duke Regional Hospital, a 369-bed acute care hospital, has been serving the healthcare needs of Durham, Orange and surrounding communities for over 30 years. As a comprehensive healthcare facility, Duke Regional provides inpatient, outpatient, surgical and emergency care and features a level II intensive care nursery, Duke Regional Rehabilitation Institute, and the Davis Ambulatory Surgical Center.

Wake Med Hospital

WakeMed is located about 30 minutes from Duke Hospital in Raleigh. In a children’s hospital built in 2010, WakeMed Children’s offers 25 inpatient rooms, 12 observation rooms, and eight pediatric ICU beds. WakeMed Raleigh provides a community hospital experience for Duke pediatric residents where they work alongside UNC residents in the inpatient, outpatient and ED setting to care for the children of Wake County.  Wake Med serves as a referral center for the surrounding counties.
