Research Conference 2/24/2012: Bastian and Gierisch

The Medicine Research Conference returns Fri., Feb. 24 at 12 pm in Duke Hospital 2002 with presentations by Lori Bastian, MD, MPH, associate professor of medicine and interim chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine, and Jennifer Gierisch, PhD, assistant professor of medicine (General Internal Medicine). Grand Rounds 9.30.2011: Privacy pitfalls for physicians

Medicine Grand Rounds on Fri., Sept. 30 at 8am in Duke Hospital room 2002 will feature Colleen Shannon, DUHS Chief Compliance & Privacy Officer and Martha Adams, MD, professor of Medicine (General Internal Medicine) and director of credentialing and legal affairs for the Department of Medicine.
Their topic will be Privacy Pitfalls for Physicians. Grand Rounds videos are also archived on the Department of Medicine intranet.

Grand Rounds 7/15/2011: Ben Powers on blood pressure measurement

Medicine Grand Rounds this Fri., July 15 at 8am in Duke Hospital room 2002 will feature Benjamin Powers, MD, MHS, assistant professor of medicine (General Internal Medicine). Dr. Powers's topic will be Blood pressure measurement for decision making and quality reporting: How should we measure it and how low should we go? Powers was lead author of a recently published article, about blood pressure monitoring and the white-coat effect, in the Annals of Internal Medicine.

Bowlby Wins 2014 Ambulatory Teaching Award

Dr. Lynn Bowlby just won the 2014 Ambulatory Teaching Award. The Internal Medicine House Staff presents this award to the faculty member who best exemplifies commitment and excellence to teaching in ambulatory medicine. Congratulations, Dr. Bowlby!

Burroughs Wellcome Fund Offering $700,000 Career Awards

The Burroughs Wellcome Fund is seeking nominations for its Career Awards for Medical Scientists (CAMS) program, which provides $700,000 over five years for physician-scientists to bridge advanced postdoctoral or fellowship training and the early years of faculty service. Ideal candidates will be two years away from becoming an independent investigator, have at least two years or more of postdoctoral research experience, and have a significant publication record.
