Rubin Appointed to Mastership in ACP

Sharon Rubin, MD, associate professor of medicine in the division of General Internal Medicine and Practice Medical Director at Duke Primary Care at Pickett Road, was recently honored with a Mastership in the American College of Physicians (ACP).

"I was surprised and humbled to be chosen for Mastership," says Dr. Rubin. "I never expected to become a master, ever!"

Chudgar and Gallagher Promoted to Full Professors

Congratulations to two of our faculty members who are receiving distinguished academic promotions in the division of General Internal Medicine (GIM)! Drs. Gallagher and Chudgar are the first-ever Duke hospital medicine faculty members to receive this promotion to full professor.

R38 scholar Aaditya Khatri, MD, PhD, is the lead author on a new study that offers a potentially novel therapeutic strategy for the prevention or treatment of chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD), the leading cause of death in lung transplant recipients.

Women in Internal Medicine

As we recognize Women’s History Month, I would like to share some personal reflections on the gender evolution in academic departments of internal medicine over the past 20 years.  As one of the most senior women in our department, I have lived through these changes and am excited to see the progress we have made in establishing gender balance.
