Goldstein receives new research awards

Congratulations to Dr. Karen Goldstein, MD, MSPH, associate professor of medicine (general internal medicine), as the recent recipient of two awards that will support high priority areas of research involving veterans, especially to advance the care of women veterans and the care of African-American veterans in rural NC.

Welcome Ytina Mangum - GIM Division Administrator

Ytina Mangum, MS, joined the Duke community in 2006 and worked as the Department of Surgery’s medical student coordinator. She recently transitioned from the Center of Applied Genomics and Precision Medicine (CAGPM) and Duke’s Center for Genomic and Computational Biology (GCB) where she held the positions since 2014 of Sr. Business Manager and most recently the Director of Administration.

Duke Hospital Medicine - Mentors at Work

Three of the top-five finalists in the recent poster competition, sponsored by the Triangle Chapter of the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM), were submissions from Duke Hospital Medicine. A common theme for these, and all the hospitalist submissions, was successful mentorship.

Has the new intern ever seen you without a mask?

When we asked Dr. Lynn Bowlby, medical director of the Duke Outpatient Clinic, whether the new interns had seen her without a mask, she told us that “it actually took us a few weeks to realize we had never seen the interns without a mask on, nor they us!“
