Faculty Spotlight: Brian Schneider, MD

Brian Schneider, MD, is an assistant professor in GIM and section chief of Hospital Medicine at the Durham VA. He joined our faculty after completing his Internal Medicine Residency here at Duke. Get to know more about Dr. Schneider and his interests inside and outside of work in our interview below. 

What brought you to Duke?

I came to Duke for my Internal Medicine Residency. I received great training and love Durham, so the decision to stay was easy.

Developmental psychologist Keisha Leanne Bentley-Edwards, PhD, MA, is an associate professor in the division of General Internal Medicine, the Associate Director of Research and the Director of the Health Equity Working Group for Duke’s Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity, a scholarly collaborative that studies the causes and consequences of inequality and develops remedies for these disparities and their adverse effects.

Wahid Promoted to Assistant Professor

Congratulations to Dr. Lana Wahid on her promotion to Assistant Professor of Medicine in the division of General Internal Medicine, effective August 1, 2022. 

2022 GIM Excellence Awards

General Internal Medicine announces the 7th annual Excellence Awards to honor the outstanding achievements of our division's faculty and staff members in clinical care, education, research, implementation, and professionalism. This year, we added a few more award categories and are excited to have 10 individual awards as well as one team award. 

Event honors Dr. Lynn Bowlby

The Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) held a celebration and reception on Thursday, July 21, to recognize and honor the contributions of Lynn Bowlby, MD, who has been the Medical Director of the Duke Outpatient Clinic (DOC) for over 16 years. In August, Dr. Bowlby will be moving back to Rhode Island to assume a clinic leadership position at Brown University, where she completed her medical training.
