Bosworth featured in Kaiser Health News

Often, patients with chronic illnesses are prescribed a number of medications to take throughout their day, but experts suggest, close to half of those people don’t take their medications as directed by their doctors.

Schulman’s JAMA Viewpoint

Kevin Schulman, MD, is a renowned clinical researcher and faculty member of Duke general internal medicine. Last week’s issue (August 16, 2016) of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) shows Dr. Schulman as an author of a Viewpoint article titled “Reassessing ACOs and Health Care Reform.” The co-author, Barak D. Richman, JD, is a colleague of Schulman’s from Duke Law.

Perlman featured in news articles on Olympians “cupping”

If you have been paying close attention to the 2016 Olympic games, then you may have noticed some strange red circle marks on some of the competing athletes. These are a result from a practice that is supposed to aid recovery and boost performance referred to as “cupping”, and Duke GIM’s own Adam Perlman, MD, executive director for Duke Integrative Medicine, knows quite a bit about it.

Many Americans these days are finding ways to treat symptoms using a nondrug treatment such as acupuncture, chiropractic care, or massage therapy. Just recently, Arthritis Today magazine, featured an article on these treatments called “Hands-on Healing”.

Anonymous donation supports residency program, honors work of Brian Wolf

An anonymous donor has given $60,000 to the Department of Medicine to support the Internal Medicine Residency Program, said Magnus Ohman, MD, vice chair for development and innovation. The donor made this gift in honor of Brian Wolf, MD, medical instructor in the Department of Medicine (General Internal Medicine) and provider in Duke Signature Care.
