A warm welcome to new Department of Medicine faculty members who started in November 2020!

Joseph Greenfield, MD, James B. Duke Distinguished Professor of Medicine and chair of the Department of Medicine from 1983 to 1995, died on Wed., Oct. 14, 2020. He was 89. Dr. Greenfield was passionately committed to the professional development of faculty and trainees and will be remembered as great mentor.

The recipients of the Department of Medicine faculty Excellence in Education Awards have been announced.

The Department of Medicine is proud to announce the recipients of the 2020 DOM Research Mentoring Awards, which recognize outstanding mentors among our faculty. 

Adrian Hernandez, MD, MHS, has been named Vice Dean and the new Executive Director of the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI), effective May 15.

Nour Nazo, lab manager of the Rajagopal Lab in the Duke Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC), has been named the 2020 recipient of the CVRC Research Staff Appreciation Award.

Kathleen Cooney, MD, Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine, Manesh Patel, MD, chief of the Division of Cardiology, and Vance Fowler, MD, MHS, are among 12 faculty who have been recognized with Distinguished Professorships from the School of Medicine in 2020.

Congratulations to the Department of Medicine faculty who are being recognized by the School of Medicine for their leadership, service, mentoring, and professionalism.
