Mary Klotman – New Dean Duke School of Medicine

Dr. Mary Klotman was named the Dean of the Duke School of Medicine. The announcement found here captures Dr. Klotman’s academic and collaborative nature. She is “a nationally renowned physician-scientist and academic leader who has served as chair of Duke’s Department of Medicine for almost seven years -- has been named dean of the Duke University School of Medicine and vice chancellor for health affairs at Duke University. Klotman will assume these roles July 1, 2017.

7 from Medicine accepted to ALICE leadership program

School of Medicine Office for Faculty Development has announced the next class in its ALICE program, a leadership development opportunity for mid-career women faculty in the School of Medicine. Seven participants in the next class are from the Department of Medicine.

Duke CVRC faculty receive awards from Mandel Center for Hypertension and Atherosclerosis

Four faculty in the Division of Cardiology have received awards from the Mandel Center for Hypertension and Atherosclerosis at Duke. The faculty are members of the Duke Cardiovascular Research Center, which has a mission of scholarship, training, and mentoring that includes developing the next leaders in cardiovascular discovery research.

Califf receives AHA Research Achievement Award for 2016

Robert M. Califf, MD, who is on leave from Duke to serve as commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, received the American Heart Association's Research Achievement Award for 2016 “for his visionary clinical research leading to paradigm-changing procedures that have directly and significantly improved, in innumerable ways, the management of patients with cardiovascular disease.”
